Things apparently did not turn out the way one Indiana man may have expected when he climbed out a window onto a rooftop and was unable to get to the ground. Shortly thereafter, police at the scene arrested him. He is now most likely focused on his criminal defense as he faces at least 10 different charges.
The situation reportedly began to develop early in the morning on a recent Sunday. A woman who had been asleep on her couch called police claiming she had awakened to a man who was assaulting her. She said when she woke up, he fled the scene; the woman then described the alleged assailant's physical appearance to police.
Less than an hour later, police were called to another location to respond to a burglary in progress. When they arrived, no suspect was there; however, witnesses provided a description. Officers decided to do a welfare check on another nearby residence at that time because they noticed a door ajar.
During their search of the third premises, a man exited a second-floor window, climbing out onto the roof. A resident said he had been trying to steal items inside the building. The 23-year-old was not able to get to lower ground, however, and police took him into custody. They claim he matches the description given by the woman who had called in earlier to report an assault. He has been charged with resisting arrest, aggravated indecent assault and burglary, among other things.
There are often several criminal defense options available to those facing multiple charges in Indiana. Securing skilled and experienced assistance typically increases one's chances of avoiding conviction. Many defendants in past situations have been able to substantiate alibis or otherwise raise reasonable doubt that they committed the crimes for which they were charged.
